nice people are so, well, nice!

it's a colleague's last day and to either celebrate this momentous sense of release and freedom or to make the rest of us Les Miserables feel better, she brought in a tin of Quality Street (those huge tins you only see at Christmas time). this is in itself already a nice gesture but what makes it nicer still is that she remembered i am fasting and there would probably be none left for me. So she got me a huge tube of Fruit Pastilles. All for me!!

 i won't share, i won't i won't... well maybe the yellow and green ones i might.

so she deserves the Nicest Person of the Day Award... and probably Nicest Person of the Week.

Picked up the remainder of my possessions from my old flat. Fit it all into the wheelie suitcase i have and wheeled it across Hove. I made sure i was well dressed, too.. one should always look impeccably turned out when meeting an ex. You have to exude 'i am doing better than ever before now i'm not with you'.

He looked absolutely the same as ever.

We had nothing to talk about.

Sunday was bloody marvellous. It's not every day your landlord cooks you a roast. (no, really... he even cordially invited me to dinner ! - well it came out like  "are you gonna be around Sunday? cos i thought i'd do a roast" but when you are mildly besotted with aforementioned landlord then anything he says is wonderful.

i am currently in a state of emergency, and i fear martial law may be imposed imminently.

The reason for this is that the internet is almost not working at all. i can't access my emails, i can't trawl through random websites in times when my workload compels me to procrastinate, but for some strang reason, about 1% of sites i try to access DO work (and they consistently work, whereas as the ones that don't, consistently don't).

-Google works, and the search page comes up, but no point in clicking any of the results

-Hotmail works but i almost never use it, yahoo and lycos do not

-Yahoo groups work and so does Yahoo news

-20six works [rapturous applause] and i remain sane only from reading the blogs contained therein.

as you can probably imagine, this is a very distressing time for me and i may require extensive counselling. i can't even consol myself with chocolate, what with Ramadan and fasting.

speaking of Ramadan and fasting i seem to be deteriorating into ever more woolly-headedness. i can barely understand a simple sentence. i hear all the words but miss the meaning. Colleagues are patiently repeating everything they say, slower and in simpler terms. I feel like the aged P(arent) from Great Expectations.

This is probably because i did not get up to eat before dawn (suhoor) for most of this week and dinner has been sparse (too tired to cook). Though i made pretty decent chicken pie with the leftovers from landlord's roast. He remarked how domestic i am, thinks i'd make someone a good housewife. I sort of took offense at that, it's really only cooking i enjoy.
